Choosing a career training program doesn't have to be complicated! Deciding to go back to school to pursue your dreams is a huge step. With that decided, it's now time to choose where and what type of career training program would be the best fit. Think of it as an exciting adventure you get to go on, now it's all about which road to take to get you there. It's a good idea to start with a checklist of things to research and the right questions to ask. Don't know where to start? That's alright, we have listed the top 3 things to look for when choosing a program.
Success Rate and Job Preparation
The first few questions you should ask are: what is the success rate of your desired program? Are the students able to finish the program and become employed? What is the completion rate? Do most students pass their certification exams that are part of the program? Are students career-ready after completing the program? Answers to questions like these will provide you with the confidence you need before enrolling in a program.
Let's face it, the cost may play a factor in choosing your career training program. Make sure to compare the programs that are in line with your budget. Program length and the number of potential certifications play a part in determining the cost of the program, so be sure the program provides the necessary credentials you're after since building out your resume with in-demand technical certifications can make all the difference in your job search. Those certifications are your investment. This is your career you are building towards and investing in yourself is never a waste of money. Your desired certifications may be one of the biggest factors in selecting your training program. The certifications you choose to pursue will naturally follow your job role of choice. There are several fundamental technical certifications that are very popular for those moving into the IT field (CompTIA's A+, for instance), but after learning the fundamentals, you'll have to decide to become a bit more specialized. You may choose to focus on the area of networking, or maybe security, or possibly desktop administration. That decision will direct you to your desired certifications which in turn will point you to the right program.
United Training Academy has several IT technical programs; some that share common certifications and some that are completely unique. For instance, our IT Networking & Security program provides the student with the course material to prepare for CompTIA's IT Fundamentals+, Network+, and Security+ certifications, while the IT Desktop Networking & Security program includes supporting those same three certifications, but also includes support and content for the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and Modern Desktop Administrator certifications. The latter program focuses more on desktop administration so if you have an interest in that area you should look in that direction.

Knowledge isn't something that can be taken away from you. Your education is an investment and like any investment it requires research. You don't buy a house without an inspection or a used car without a history report, so don't make your decision on your training program lightly. Do the work to find the best option for you and your career.
